Società Agricola Porretta is one of the most important companies in Italy for the production and sale of high quality mushrooms. The company takes care of all stages of the supply chain with great care and attention to each step, so as to offer the customer the opportunity to bring a genuine and healthy product to their table. After collecting the mushrooms, the product is sorted into different types before entering the final packaging. First of all, there is the sector dedicated to washing. At this stage of the process, the fresh mushrooms are thoroughly washed to remove any residual soil or dirt. Then, the next step is the cutting phase and, finally, the weighing phase is carried out to determine the quantity of product that will be packaged.

Each step of the chain is carried out by highly specialized personnel suitably trained to manage better each phase or possible criticality of the production process.

Mushroom packaging

The fresh mushrooms, once cleaned, cut and weighed, are then moved on to the next stage: packaging. The company boasts seven packaging lines that vary according to the different destination of each package. In this sector, the different types of packaging and weights are chosen, i.e. the quantity of mushrooms that each package must contain.

Labeling and packaging phase

Once the package has been made, all that remains is to affix the right label containing all the relevant information about the mushrooms to ensure correct traceability. Then, the package passes through one of the seven available packaging lines and, finally, ends its journey either in one of the five active cold stores, or is loaded on vehicles equipped for transport throughout Italy. They use their own vehicles or those of external companies to carry out rapid and efficient transport in less than 24 hours from collection.
