A Leading Mushroom Production Company
The agricultural company Porretta di Labico was founded in 2012 but has a much older history, the result of years of experience in the field of mushroom cultivation by the owners. The company still preserves the values of the past, even though it has acquired advanced production and processing techniques that allow it to maintain high quality standards. This efficiency is also to be found in the distribution phase of the product that is delivered quickly and with the
utmost accuracy.
The origins of the farm
Back in 1978, the agricultural company Porretta Enzo was founded, with the cultivation of mushrooms in caves in Tivoli, on the initiative of the owner, who initially dedicated himself to the cultivation of mushrooms. With the increase in production, in 1985, the first plant for the storage and sale of mushrooms in boxes was built in San Cesareo and, only 4 years later, the first factory in Italy for the processing of mushrooms was established nearby and in 1991 it was transferred to a larger plant in Rocca Priora.
In 1995, a new plant was built, including two processing lines and a mushroom factory for the cultivation of pleurotus mushrooms. In that year the company extends its sales throughout Italy and had 30 employees.
Expansion of activity
In 2001 the owners purchased a new 6 hectare area in Labico for the construction of a new mushroom house which, in 2003, had an area of over 2000 square metres. In the same period the packaging plant was expanded, and in 2012, the area dedicated to storage was enlarged and a modern photovoltaic system was installed. In 2017 the mushroom house underwent further expansion from 2000 to 6000 square meters with the installation of the second photovoltaic system and staff stood at almost 100 employees. In 2018, finally, a technological program of traceability and product supply chain was installed, which supports the work of employees, now almost one hundred, in the management of control activities along the entire chain of production and distribution.
