The Porretta di Labico agricultural company was founded in 2012, but its history extends much further, drawing on the owners' years of experience in mushroom cultivation. The company still preserves the values of the past, while also adopting advanced production and processing techniques that allow it to maintain high quality standards. This efficiency is also evident in the distribution phase, with products delivered promptly and with the utmost care.

The origins of the farm

Back in 1978, the Porretta Enzo agricultural company was founded, cultivating mushrooms in a cave in Tivoli. The owner, who initially dedicated himself to mushroom cultivation, began cultivating mushrooms. As production increased, the first facility for storing and selling mushrooms in crates was built in San Cesareo in 1985. Just four years later, Italy's first fresh-cut mushroom processing facility opened nearby, which in 1991 moved to a larger facility in Rocca Priora.

In 1995, a new facility was built, including two processing lines and a mushroom farm for growing oyster mushrooms. That year, the company expanded its sales throughout Italy and employed 30 people.

Expansion of mushroom production business

In 2001, the owners purchased a new 6-hectare plot of land in Labico to build a new mushroom farm, which, by 2003, had expanded to over 2,000 square meters. During the same period, the packing plant was expanded, and in 2012 the storage area was enlarged and a modern photovoltaic system was installed. In 2017, the mushroom farm was further expanded from 2,000 to 6,000 square meters with the installation of a second photovoltaic system, bringing the total workforce to nearly 100. Finally, in 2018, a technological product traceability and supply chain program was installed, complementing the work of the nearly one hundred employees in managing control activities throughout the production and distribution chain.
